wide load truckZurich’s Crane operations program offers Auto Liability and Auto Physical Damage insurance for vehicles with permanently attached cranes or booms that typically operate at or near construction sites. 80% of operations must be within a 300 mile radius.


  • This classification includes vehicles with permanently attached cranes or booms which typically operate at or near construction sites.  
  • The vehicles may or may not be licensed for road use.
  • The account must have general liability coverage in force with another carrier.

Ineligible risks:

  • Any risk with over 20% of their mileage beyond a 300 miles radius (as determined by IFTA reports)
  • New ventures


  • Nationwide except Alaska and Hawaii

Submission requirements:

  • ACORD applications
  • Commercial auto questionnaire
  • Crane supplemental
  • Vehicle and owned crane list including ACV
  • Expiring term plus four prior years of currently valued loss experience (minimum 3 years)
  • Current MVR's for all drivers
  • IFTA's to verify radius eligibility (when federal filing requested)

Additional program highlights:

Manuscript wording to provide coverage for Owned Auto and allow for the General Liability carrier to cover the over the road for mobile equipment if the General Liability carrier is providing this coverage.
The Program Administrator can answer questions about eligibility, coverage, or commissions. They will also be able to provide you with the appropriate forms for a submission. Please Note: Zurich Program Administrators have individual appointment processes. They retain the right to appoint/terminate subproducer relationships. If a Zurich Program Administrator declines to appoint, no alternative Program Administrators can be considered for the class of business.
