David Anderson is head of Zurich Credit & Political Risk, a global unit within Specialty Products for Zurich North America, with underwriting teams in London, Continental Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America. In this role, Anderson is responsible for the direction and performance of Zurich Credit & Political Risk and is part of the Specialty Products leadership team. Zurich Credit & Political Risk provides political risk and trade credit insurance for financial institutions, multinational corporations, investors, exporters, contractors and infrastructure developers globally. Anderson, a 15-year Zurich veteran, launched the Sydney, Australia, Credit & Political Risk Underwriting office in 2006; launched the Singapore office in 2009; and managed the Asia-Pacific regional team until 2012. Before joining Zurich, he led FCIA Management Company Inc.’s eastern region for multi-buyer credit insurance out of New York and underwrote political risk insurance for Citicorp International Trade Indemnity, handling mainly Sub-Saharan Africa.
Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree in political science (magna cum laude) from Amherst College and two master’s degrees from University of Texas at Austin: one in Latin American studies and one in business administration. He was also a Fulbright Fellow in political science at Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas, Venezuela. He is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese, having lived, studied or worked in several Latin American countries.
