New York, N.Y., January 31, 2008 – Zurich, one of the world’s largest property-casualty insurance companies, today announced that former U.S. Congressman Michael Oxley will present the keynote address at Zurich's International Directors & Officers (D&O) conference on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at the headquarters of Bloomberg LP in New York City. The conference will also feature a series of panel discussions with legal experts from Asia, Europe, South America, and emerging markets focusing on the impact of changing local laws and legal developments on senior executives of multinational companies.
As a former U.S. Congressman and advocate for corporate accountability, Rep. Oxley's keynote address will focus on the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and its effects on corporate America, international business and global capital markets.
In January 2007, Rep. Oxley completed a 34-year career in public life – including 25 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Congress. His service included serving as the chair of the House Financial Services Committee, a role he assumed in January 2001. Achievements under his leadership as chair included passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, the anti-money laundering provisions of the Patriot Act, and the FACT Act that made annual credit reports free to consumers.
