Zurich North America Commercial announces lower rates for New York Disability Benefits Law coverage

New rates among the lowest across most of New York State for employer groups of
11-49 employees

Schaumburg, Ill., April 2, 2009 – Zurich, one of the world’s largest property-casualty insurance companies, has announced lower rates for its New York Disability Benefits Law (NYDBL) coverage. Employers with 11-49 employees in 45 counties across New York State are eligible for the reduced rates, which are among the lowest available, making Zurich one of the most competitive NYDBL providers for employers of all sizes.

Bryan Salvatore, executive vice president and head of Zurich’s Accident & Health group said, “Zurich’s commitment to the statutory disability market has spanned more than 50 years. All employers – no matter where their headquarters are located – are required to provide statutory short-term disability coverage for their employees working in New York State. We cover more than 75,000 employers – and 900,000 employees – in New York and have consistently been ranked by the New York State Insurance Department as one of the top health and disability insurers – part of the value of working with Zurich.”

Donald Atkins, vice president of statutory disability, said, “Zurich is leader in service – with quick, easy access to online options and dedicated statutory claims specialists.  Our highly competitive rates throughout most of New York State also mean that we are one of the most affordable choices available.
