Schaumburg, Ill., June 25, 2009 – Zurich North America Commercial, a leading property and casualty insurance provider, today announced that Julie Bolton has been appointed vice president of risk services for operations in Canada. Bolton replaces Sylvia Layton, who has been named head of risk engineering for Zurich North America Global Energy.
Bolton will be responsible for addressing overall strategy and objectives, product design, development and product delivery for risk services in Canada. Her focus will be on building relationships between the Canadian business units, risk services and Zurich customers.

Since February 2006, Bolton has been Zurich Risk Services’ regional manager for Ontario and Western Canada, leading a team of 14, including boiler, transportation and property specialists. Prior to joining Zurich, Bolton was with several Canadian organizations, most recently Automation Tooling Systems in Cambridge, Ont., where she was on-site senior project manager/client manager in Inverness, Scotland.
Bolton earned her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass. She earned a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Tufts University in Medford, Mass.
