Zurich names Sean M. Dalton head of Marine for its Global Corporate in North America business unit

Schaumburg, Ill., July 13, 2010 – Zurich, a leading property and casualty insurance provider globally and in North America, today announced the appointment of Sean M. Dalton as head of North American Marine operations for Zurich's Global Corporate in North America business unit.

Dalton will be responsible for leading a strategic review of the marine portfolio and for developing the strategy to attain Zurich’s growth aspirations for its Marine book of business. He will based in Zurich Global Corporate in North America's New York office.

“Sean brings more than twenty years of experience and a tremendous amount of business knowledge in Marine to his new role,” said Paul Horgan, chief underwriting officer for Zurich's Global Corporate in North America business unit. “I am confident that his vision of top tier performance in the marine business will enable Zurich to move our Marine portfolio to the next level.”

Prior to joining Zurich, Dalton spent seven years with Travelers Insurance Company, where he was Vice President Field Underwriting Operations in the Ocean Marine Division. Previously, he held Ocean Marine positions at Swiss Re and Atlantic Mutual Companies.

Dalton has a Bachelor of Science from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and a Master of Science from the State University of New York Maritime College. He also holds several industry designations, including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Associate in Marine Insurance Management and Casualty Claims Law Associate.
