Z-CAT Team
Z-CAT was conceived around the time of Hurricane Katrina to help bring Zurich customers and brokers an extra level of service when they're facing a potentially catastrophic weather event. Here's how it works: The Zurich North America Commercial Claims Catastrophe Unit triggers the service when a potential catastrophe, such as an approaching hurricane, is imminent. The Z-CAT team quickly ramps up and begins calling all Zurich brokers and agents and some customers in the identified area to see if they need anything from us and to let them know we will be checking in with them again after the event. After the event, the team checks on brokers and customers in the affected area by phone or, sometimes, in person, performing such services as helping to obtain generators, passing out water bottles, calling in claims for customers and starting recovery and salvage activities.
