Schaumburg, IL, April 19, 2018

Insurance provider makes donation to local Boys & Girls Clubs during RIMS Conference

Zurich North America, a leading provider of property and casualty insurance and a company dedicated to improving the lives of children and families, has made a ,000 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio.

Paul Horgan, Head of North America Commercial Insurance for Zurich North America, announced the donation at a special dinner for Zurich customers on April 17 during the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) Conference, which took place this year in San Antonio April 15-18.

One of Zurich’s three community investment focus areas is working to ensure the health and welfare of children in need. To help meet that need in the San Antonio area, Zurich made the donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio on behalf of its RIMS attendees and guests attending Zurich-hosted events.

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio is dedicated to enhancing the educational, social, and moral development of San Antonio’s youth, ages six to 18 years old. The donation will go towards the organization’s innovative Great Futures Program providing afterschool and summer programs to more than 8,900 school-aged children each year. From daily homework help to college prep, the Great Futures Program emphasizes academic success, healthy lifestyles and character development.

“I am proud that Zurich can contribute to the tradition of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio by helping to ensure that every kid that walks through their doors is on track to graduate high school on time with a plan for their future whether it be higher education, technical school, employment or military,” said Paul Horgan, head of North America Commercial Insurance, Zurich North America.

“The major school districts served by Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio report that 83 percent of their students are considered economically disadvantaged, with an average 30 percent of adults having no high school diploma. These factors can contribute to a bleak future outlook for many youth in San Antonio but with the help of our afterschool programs, at-risk youth are staying in school, getting involved in their communities and graduating with a plan for their future. We are honored to be recognized by our community partner Zurich Insurance with this generous donation to our Great Futures program,” said Sonia Lopez, Director of Development for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio.

In 2017 Zurich demonstrated its commitment to the communities where we live and work through more than ,000 derived from 18,159 volunteer hours donated by 1,912 employees through more than 415 service projects.
