March 24, 2020

Zurich veteran brings the experience and leadership skills essential to this key position.

Colleen Zitt, Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller, has been appointed Chief Risk Officer for Zurich North America, effective April 16. Zitt succeeds Barry Franklin, who assumed the role of Chief Actuary in December.

In her new role, Zitt will be responsible for leading all aspects of Zurich’s North America Risk function. This includes ensuring that Group-wide governance and risk management responsibilities are met, developing and implementing risk policies and monitoring adherence to those policies, sponsoring projects and programs that contribute to the delivery of global initiatives, and taking accountability for meeting Zurich North America regulatory requirements.

She will report directly to Zurich Chief Risk Officer Peter Giger and will have a matrix reporting line to Zurich North America CEO Kathleen Savio. Zitt will be a member of Zurich’s global Leadership Team and Risk Management Executive Committee and Zurich North America’s Executive Committee.

“With more than 25 years of financial experience and her strong leadership capabilities, Colleen is the ideal person to lead the North America Risk function as we work to achieve our mission to embed a disciplined risk culture across the Zurich group,” Giger said.

Zitt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a minor in Economics from Northern Illinois University. She was named a 2016 Working Mother of the Year by Working Mother magazine.
