Grants announced for 126 nonprofits throughout the country
Zurich Insurance, a global leader in managing risk, today announced it is awarding a total of $744,250 to 126 nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S. Zurich announced the recipients of its grant program in North America today to kick off its fifth annual Global Community Week, a weeklong celebration of Zurich’s commitment to making a sustainable difference in local communities with 46 Zurich offices around the world participating this year.
“Our grants program in North America helps nonprofits make tangible changes in the communities where we live and work,” said Mike Foley, North America Commercial CEO and Regional Chairman of North America for Zurich Insurance. “Global Community Week is our way to acknowledge and celebrate the time and resources our employees contribute to their local communities.”
Zurich North America reviews grants annually for non-sectarian 501(c)(3) charities that have a mission that aligns with Zurich’s three focus areas for Community Investment: 1) health and welfare of children in need, 2) community resilience, and 3) health, as well as meet the following criteria:
- Employee involvement in the nonprofit
- Alignment to Zurich’s mission
- Proximity to Zurich offices
- Low administrative cost ratio
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion
In 2015, nearly one-third or approximately 18,000 Zurich employees around the world volunteered over 31,000 business hours in activities during Global Community Week. In North America, 2,100 employees logged 7,100 hours of volunteering time, illustrating Zurich in North America’s collective commitment to helping build sustainable communities around the globe.
