Zurich receives three awards from United Way, with Zurich’s Head of Community Investment receiving an individual award for leadership
Zurich Insurance today announced it received three awards from the United Way of North-Northwest that reinforces its focus on helping build sustainable communities. The awards are bestowed annually upon persons and companies that reflect the United Way’s mission: “to rejuvenate communities through giving, advocating and volunteering.”
Two awards were given to Zurich North America, and one was given to Jillian Walsh, Zurich’s Community Investment Director on June 9, 2016. The three awards are:
- Top Corporate Citizens Award: the award recognizes organizations that exemplify the spirit of philanthropy through financial support, employee gifts, special events, and sponsorships for United Way.
- Executive Engagement Award: the award recognizes the company whose leadership promotes United Way’s mission, by mobilizing support within their own organization.
- Catherine Lee Award: named in recognition and memory of the outstanding North-Northwest Board Member, the award recognizes the individual, company, or program that works throughout the year to engage, educate and inspire employees to invest in their community.
“With no funding in a budget for human services currently in the state of Illinois, never before has there been such an important time in our state to band together with corporate sponsors like Zurich Insurance,” said Wendy DuBoe, president and CEO of the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago. “It was an honor to recognize Zurich for helping United Way tackle neighborhood goals together; deliver services together; and measure the impact together. Zurich has set the bar for living ‘United’ in the community.”
“It is an honor to receive the Catherine Lee Award because it celebrates a leader who made such a tremendous difference in her community throughout her lifetime. At Zurich, we are so fortunate to have caring employees who are committed to meeting the critical needs in our communities. Knowing that the work my team and I have done to enable our company to care for our community is a reward in itself. But to be recognized for that effort is humbling,” Walsh said.
