SCHAUMBURG, IL, October 16, 2016
Group of 25 recognized by Business Insurance as 2016 women to watch
Zurich North America’s Lynn Zeitler, senior vice president and head of Special Lines, is one of 25 women across the country selected by a leading insurance publication as the 2016 Women to Watch. The prestigious award from Business Insurance magazine honors women from every facet of the commercial insurance industry for their accomplishments, knowledge and experience, leadership and career prospects.
Awards will be presented at the Women to Watch 11th anniversary leadership conference and awards gala Dec. 12-13 in New York City. Profiles of the 2015 honorees will be published in the December edition of Business Insurance and online at www.businessinsurance.com.
“Lynn is a strong leader with a clear vision of how to make positive changes in our organization and the drive to see them through,” said Mike Foley, CEO of Zurich North America. “Her ability to lead by example makes her a role model for all Zurich employees.”
Zeitler has been head of Special Lines since July 2014. In this role, she brought together multiple Special Lines underwriting groups that were independently serving different business units. This helped create consistent processes in a shared work environment so that her team could more effectively deliver underwriting insights and drive portfolio results. Zeitler has been working on developing Zurich’s cyber proposition to identify solutions to help businesses understand and protect themselves from cyber-related risks.
Zeitler said her management approach starts with discerning the real issues and engaging all stakeholders so that the solutions make a real impact on the business. “I recognize that my success depends on the success of those around me, so I am committed to developing people and supporting them when they are faced with new opportunities and challenges,” she said. “I believe in being practical and transparent—it saves a lot of time.”
Zurich North America is committed to supporting women in the workplace and was recently selected by Working Mother magazine as one of the 100 Best Companies for 2016. It’s the third consecutive year Zurich has earned this honor. Zurich was recognized for its commitment to progressive workplace programs, including flexible work arrangements, employee communications and executive commitment and advancement of women.
Business Insurance’s Women to Watch program, launched in 2006, has recognized leading women doing exceptional work in commercial insurance, reinsurance, risk management, employee benefits and related fields such as consulting and law. Winners are selected by a panel of senior editors based on criteria that include recent professional achievements, influence on the marketplace, and contributions to the advancement of women in business.
