Todd Cunningham to head Single-Parent and Sponsored Cell Captives unit

Todd Cunningham has been tapped to head the Single-Parent and Sponsored Cell Captives unit for Zurich North America.

“Zurich North America has long been a leader in this area, and I look forward to making sure we continue to provide valuable captive services for our customers,” he said. Todd, who also will continue to lead ZNA’s Strategic Risk Solutions Group, is based in New York City and reports to Brandon Fick, Head of Casualty.

Todd has been responsible for underwriting and business development of customized insurance solutions for ZNA customers since 2005. He specializes in developing non-traditional programs covering diverse risks and designing programs that can address these risks on a cost-effective basis.

Before joining Zurich North America, he was a vice president at AIG Risk Finance, specializing in alternative risk transfer programs. Prior to that, he worked in the environmental practices space for Chubb.

Todd earned a bachelor's degree in environmental science from Lehigh University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Robert Murray appointed Global Head of Surety

Robert Murray, Head of Surety for Zurich North America, is expanding his purview: He also has been appointed Global Head of Surety for Zurich Insurance Group.

From his Maryland base, Bob will continue to lead Zurich’s North American Surety business, with additional responsibility for leading global strategy to grow surety and expand capabilities across all regions.

Bob joined Zurich North America in 2013 as Vice President, Surety, managing the business unit for Canada. He previously spent 13 years with Chubb, serving in various leadership roles in surety and specialty lines. Before that, he spent 12 years with Scotiabank.

In his new role, Bob will work closely with leadership in Switzerland and other countries to provide strategic guidance and improve collaboration across the network.

Zurich in Houston welcomes back Jennifer Sparks

Jennifer Sparks has accepted a position as Business Development Leader in the South region of Zurich North America.

Her 20-plus years of insurance experience in the Houston area have included stints in underwriting and business development and as a broker. Prior to Zurich North America, she worked for 11 years at AIG.

Jennifer’s assignments will include nurturing relationships with brokers in Houston, San Antonio and Austin, Texas, as well as across Louisiana. Her priorities are to create and execute strategic plans and deliver profitable growth, a strength honed from her experience on both the carrier and broker side of the business.

“I like analyzing our distributor relationships to align with ZNA business units and create a solid relationship,” Jennifer said. “This allows me to be the advocate between both the broker and ZNA to assist in problem solving and navigation of our enterprise.”

Her assignments represent approximately $138 million in gross written premium.
