Immediate intervention at time of injury can improve outcomes
August 20, 2018
Zurich is committed to helping our customers when it matters most. Often those moments are when an employee is injured in a workplace accident.
No matter how alert management is to an organization’s workplace risks, accidents and injuries can and do occur. The strategies that are in place to deal with injuries before, during and after an incident can make a significant difference in the ultimate outcome.
One of the strategies Zurich provides to help customers make a difference following a workplace injury is our Workplace Injury Triage service. A feature of Zurich’s Medical Management, this service provides a prompt, simple and effective way to help injured workers get the care they need, when they need it.
The triage service delivers immediate recommendations from knowledgeable and highly skilled medical professionals 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A registered nurse takes the call to assess if first aid may be all that’s required or whether a referral for more extensive off-site treatment is warranted.
Professional medical intervention at the time of an incident can have a decisive impact on an employee’s ability to stay at work. It also allows the opportunity to improve utilization of Zurich’s preferred provider network when off-site treatment is deemed appropriate. Data shows that qualified, post-incident recommendations help minimize medical costs for both employers and employees while achieving better outcomes.
In addition, post-incident triage reports are developed and can be sent directly to the Zurich Care Center, which eliminates reporting lag time.
When a workplace injury occurs, our primary concern is making sure the injured employee gets the right level of care at the right time. Through Zurich’s Workplace Injury Triage service, the process of achieving these goals begins with a single call.
