Michelle Chia is the Head of Professional Liability and Cyber for Zurich North America, a position she has held since June 2018. In this role, she manages Profit and Loss and underwriting team for the Technology and Miscellaneous Professional Liability and Cyber Liability portfolios. Prior to this appointment, she oversaw the national accounts and middle market underwriting teams for the East and South regions for the same group. Under her leadership, the team experienced consistent double-digit growth. She has specialized in this field for over a decade and sets strategy through collaboration with Claims, Actuarial and Product Management teams.
Ms. Chia has presented on various panels nationwide on the topics of cyber and professional liability, and she has also provided continuing education classes to insurance brokers on those subjects. She is also a contributor to articles on current events related to cyber.
Prior to joining Zurich in 2009, Chia specialized in technology errors and omissions, miscellaneous professional liability, and security and privacy liability as an underwriter at ACE USA.
Ms. Chia is a board member and serves on the New Leadership Council of The Make-A-Wish Foundation Metro NY Chapter. She is also the Global Ambassador for the Women’s Innovation Network (WIN) for Zurich North America.
Ms. Chia holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in economics and child development from Tufts University. She completed her Master of Business Administration at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in May 2018. She received her Registered Professional Liability Underwriter designation (RPLU) in 2010.
