The government response to COVID-19 and its impact on business

April 22, 2020

A webinar from Zurich North America examines the impact of federal and state legislative and regulatory responses to the coronavirus crisis.

The coronavirus pandemic and the government’s responses to it continue to have an enormous effect on businesses across the U.S.

A webinar recording from April 22, 2020, hosted by Paul Horgan, Head of U.S. Commercial Insurance at Zurich North America, explores the impact of current and proposed federal and state legislative and regulatory activity spurred by the coronavirus crisis. Horgan also will touch on Zurich’s new COVID-19 reimbursement product. All net profits from this new offering will be donated to hunger-relief charities.

Three members of Zurich’s Government and Industry Affairs team are featured in the webinar: Deirdre Manna, Head of Government and Industry Affairs; Gregg Sheiowitz, Head of Federal Affairs; and Gary Henning, Head of State Affairs.

In its work with the Trump Administration and Congress on solutions that will benefit the overall economy and strengthen the insurance industry, Zurich’s Government Affairs team is able to share timely and relevant information on the government’s response to the pandemic. Among the topics they discuss in the webinar:

  • Current and pending coronavirus relief bills, including the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act)
  • Potential provisions in additional coronavirus response legislation
  • Continued activity on insurance coverage issues in several key states

In addition, Brian Winters, Head of Sales & Distribution for U.S. Commercial Insurance, will discuss some of the steps that Zurich is taking to assist our customers at this time.
