Bill Davis is a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant for Zurich North America. With Zurich since 2003, he currently serves the property and casualty sides of the construction industry, specializing in cranes and rigging.

Davis’ career in the loss control industry dates to 1978. He began specializing in risk engineering in 1986 at Alexander & Alexander, where he provided loss control services for multinational customers, primarily for property, liability, worker safety and transportation. He moved to United Dominion as Risk Manager and Safety Director, where he managed dozens of insurance policies from D&O to a multibillion-dollar property program, directed internal and external claims operations, and audited operations at locations nationwide to recommend loss prevention measures. From there he moved to St. Paul Company as Senior Risk Engineering Consultant.

Davis is a regular presenter at national and international conferences, including the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Professional Development Conference (PDC) and Conexpo. He has provided hundreds of seminars and training events throughout the U.S. and Canada and regularly presents customized programs, both general and focused.

External appointments

Davis is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), an Associate in Loss Control Management (ALCM), and a Commissioner – National Commission for Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO).

Educational background

Davis has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Old Dominion University. He has received post-graduate training at Georgia Tech, the University of California-Davis and the University of Michigan.
