Paul Lavelle, who has announced he is retiring from Zurich North America effective June 1, 2025, served as Head of U.S. National Accounts until May 15, 2025, when he moved into a role supporting the transition of his colleague Heather Fox into the role ahead of his retirement.
The Head of U.S. National Accounts, who reports to the Zurich North America CEO, is responsible for the direction, management and performance of all large commercial Property & Casualty business in the U.S. and is a member of the Zurich North America Executive Committee, the Zurich North America Leadership Team, the Zurich Insurance Group Leadership Team and the Global Commercial Insurance Leadership Team.
Lavelle was appointed to the role in 2022 after serving as Chief Claims Officer at Zurich North America. Lavelle has more than 30 years of insurance experience. Before joining Zurich in 2018, he held several claims and underwriting senior leadership and management roles, first for Allstate and later at American International Group Inc. (AIG) and Allied World Assurance Company. Lavelle also was President and Founder of LVL Claims Services, LLC, where he created and operated all facets of a professional liability claims adjusting company.
In 2023, Lavelle was named Insurance Executive Diversity Trailblazer of the year by the Water Street Club, a New York nonprofit committed to advancing diversity and inclusion within the insurance industry.

Educational background
Lavelle earned a bachelor's degree in science, management and human relations at Pace University in Pleasantville, New York.
