Nick Hardy and Davis Riley executed down the stretch to win the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans and capture their first PGA TOUR wins.

Hardy and Riley partnered up only about three weeks ago, but they credited their long-term friendship as key to their success. The two-man format distinguishes the Zurich Classic, the only PGA TOUR FedExCup team event, and the winners’ close friendship made the victory even sweeter.

“Sharing this moment with one of my best friends is amazing,” said Riley, who noted that the pair played hundreds of junior golf tournaments together. “Hopefully it’s just the beginning for both of us.”

Hardy and Riley came from behind to catch other teams in the mix. Hardy said the pair gained momentum and knew they had a chance to win the tournament when they birdied the 13th hole. With birdies on four of their final six holes, they finished with a tournament-record total of 30-under 258. Canadians Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor came in second at 28-under.

Immediately after the event, Zurich North America CEO Kristof Terryn congratulated the Classic champions at host course TPC Louisiana. In addition to their share of the $8.6 million purse, the pair also received the tournament’s Waterford crystal fleur-de-lis trophy and championship belts.

In addition to showcasing a field of world-class golfers, the tournament also makes a significant charitable impact. Since 2005, the Zurich Classic, in partnership with the Fore!Kids Foundation, has raised over $28 million for New Orleans charities, supporting 200,000 children annually, and has generated approximately $600 million in economic activity for the New Orleans community.
