Yes. Zurich offers Lawyers Professional Liability coverage designed to support a range of practice areas, recognizing that different legal specialties carry different risk profiles. Policies are structured based on firm size, services provided and claims history.

Defense costs are typically included under Zurich Lawyers Professional Liability Insurance, helping law firms manage legal expenses associated with covered claims, subject to policy terms and limits.

Prior acts coverage may be available, depending on underwriting approval and policy structure. This helps protect law firms from claims arising out of legal services performed before the policy’s effective date.

With a claims-made policy, the claim must be made and reported during the policy period. With an occurrence-made policy, the circumstances that give rise to a claim must occur during the policy period, but the claim can be reported later.

An Extended Reporting Period (ERP) Endorsement is also sometimes called “tail coverage.” ERP endorsements extend the time to report a claim past the termination date of the policy. There are very specific requirements for a claim to be covered by an ERP, as well as limitations defined in the endorsement. An ERP is typically not available when a policy is canceled for non-payment. Zurich offers tail coverage at no cost in certain circumstances, such as retirement, death or disability.

The price of a policy is determined by factors including but not limited to the number of attorneys, area of practice, the geographic territory, the requested limits and deductible, claims history and risk management practices.
