With inflation driving up parts and labor costs, ongoing supply chain challenges, and other market pressures, many auto dealerships have seen increased strain on their F&I reinsurance portfolios. However, getting accurate, actionable insights from your portfolio requires an approach similar to what you would expect from a good doctor — looking beyond the symptoms to find the root cause of the malady.

This segment from an episode of Car Dealership Guy’s “Daily Dealer Live” podcast explores how dealers can strengthen reinsurance results by working with specialists to get a granular view of the right data, identify trends, and diagnose the root causes affecting profitability. Premium increases can sometimes help but they aren’t always the answer. Dealerships need to examine losses in terms of both frequency and severity, focus intently on customer retention, and ensure they are working with knowledgeable, experienced people to help them maintain profitability.

Zurich’s Dan Mowid, Senior Division Reinsurance Executive, and Josh Wear, Vice President of Underwriting for Direct Markets, join host Sam D’Arc for this conversation on best practices to keep reinsurance portfolios strong.

This episode was originally presented live on Car Dealership Guy on August 3, 2026.
