Alex Wells was named Interim CEO of Zurich U.S. in September 2026. Necessary approvals related to Wells’ appointment as U.S. CEO are anticipated shortly. The Zurich U.S. CEO is a member of the Zurich Insurance Executive Committee and leads the Zurich U.S. Executive Committee.
Wells previously served as President of U.S. Middle Market, Programs, Captives, and Direct Markets for Zurich U.S., where he was responsible for driving a dedicated focus and oversight of Zurich’s investment in redefining and profitably positioning its Middle Market business.
Wells joined Zurich in 2020 from Chubb, where he was Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer for Commercial Insurance. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President and Regional Manager for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions for Commercial Insurance. Earlier he was Executive Vice President and North American Manager for Specialty Casualty and Construction. He also held a variety of other leadership and management roles within the Chubb and ACE organizations.

Wells holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from American University in Washington, D.C.
