He brings 30 years of experience to his new role with Zurich North America Surety, which is part of the Specialties business unit.
Rob Walsh has joined Zurich North America as Head of Large Contract Surety, effective immediately. In this role, Walsh will be responsible for driving the overall success of Zurich’s Large Contract Surety portfolio and will report to Head of Surety Chris Nolan.
Walsh is a seasoned surety professional with more than 30 years of experience in the industry. He joins Zurich from Chubb, where his most recent position was Vice President and Regional Surety Manager for the San Francisco Bay Area and Pacific Northwest region.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rob to Zurich Surety,” Nolan said. “His leadership and surety underwriting expertise, coupled with a proven ability to develop and manage customer and broker relationships, will be instrumental in the continued growth of our Large Contract Surety portfolio.”
Zurich Surety, which is part of the Specialties business unit led by Kelly Kinzer at Zurich North America, is one of the top writers of surety bonds in the U.S., according to the nonprofit Surety & Fidelity Association of America. Since 1890, surety bonds from Zurich and companies it acquired have helped provide the financial and performance guarantees necessary to build a wide range of landmarks, including skyscrapers, highways, bridges and canals, across the country and around the world. In recent years, Zurich Surety has introduced user-friendly tools such as the Surety Bond Validator, designed to help quickly confirm the legitimacy of a bond for a project.
Walsh holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Creighton University in Omaha. He will be based in the San Francisco Bay area.
