Zurich North America names Japhet Boutin Head of Technical Claims

Zurich North America today announced Japhet Boutin has been appointed SVP, Head of Technical Claims for Zurich North America, effective September 15. Boutin will succeed John Shane, who has accepted a position with the Zurich Group as Global Head of Casualty Claims.
Boutin will play a key role in managing and overseeing the technical aspects of insurance claims within Zurich North America and report to Keith Daly, Chief Claims Officer for Zurich North America.

Boutin began her career in commercial litigation in New York City. In 2004, she joined American International Group and ultimately became the Director of the Professional Associate Program.
In 2009, she came to Zurich North America as Senior Coverage Counsel, providing internal legal and coverage counsel to our Claims and Underwriting departments. She was promoted to her current role as VP, Director Financial Lines Claims in 2016.
Boutin was celebrated as the 2022 Steven J. Gladstone Claim Executive of the Year. She holds bachelor’s degrees in both English and literature from Barnard College and a Doctor of Law degree from Temple University School of Law.
