Skills and experience

Aaron Beharelle is Zurich’s Chief Actuary for North America. He leads the Zurich North American Actuarial Center of Excellence and is responsible for the professional development of all actuaries across the region. Beharelle also serves as Appointed Actuary for the U.S.-domiciled property and casualty insurance companies within the Zurich Group.

Beharelle joined Zurich in 2004 and brings business unit, regional and global perspectives through a broad background in finance, underwriting and capital-focused actuarial roles, as well as investor relations and strategic management in general insurance and life. Before becoming Chief Actuary, he served as Executive Actuary, Head of Performance and Reporting at Zurich’s Corporate Center. Previously, he was Strategic Assistant to the Group CEO, Senior Investor Relations Officer and held key actuarial positions earlier in his career at the company.

External appointments

Beharelle is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA). He is also a member of the Swiss Actuarial Society and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, administered by The Institutes.

Educational background

Beharelle holds a Bachelor of Science in statistics and operations research from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
