Soft Tissue Injury Prevention Program

In collaboration with the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC),* Zurich offers the Soft Tissue Injury Prevention Program (STIPP) to educate the construction industry on preventing soft tissue injuries in the workplace.

Your challenge

Soft tissue injuries (STIs) affect the muscles, tendons, ligaments or nerves and account for 35 percent of all lost-time, work-related injuries.** Such injuries can happen suddenly (acute) or develop over long periods of time (chronic). Either way, they can be devastating to both employers and employees, resulting in increased workers’ compensation costs, lost work time and even permanent disability.

Our solution

Zurich’s STIPP promotes awareness of STIs through training on how to help mitigate or prevent the impact of injuries. The program is available in two formats: the Executive version targeting senior leadership and key decision makers, and the Field version focusing on field employees and other personnel. The Executive version runs approximately four hours and includes technical information on the causes of STIs and ways to prevent them. The Field version is approximately one hour and features a training guide and video that discuss some of the more common do’s and don’ts for preventing STIs.  For assistance with implementation of STIPP, please contact your Zurich Risk Engineer.
