Ben Lawson is the Strategic Assistant to the CEO of Zurich North America, where he supports the CEO’s strategic agenda, drives executive leadership and organizational discussions, and helps manage key stakeholder relationships. Previously as Vice President of Strategy, he established the Auto Transformation Office to improve loss ratios, strengthened underwriting controls and launched a new telematics initiative. He also led strategic reviews and delivered actionable recommendations to enhance business performance.
Before joining Zurich, Lawson was Chief of Staff at Trellis, an insurtech startup, and began his corporate career as a consultant and then a manager at Bain & Company.
Lawson is a military veteran and served as a captain and instructor at the U.S. Marine Corps’ leadership school in Quantico, Virginia, mentoring new officers and teaching more than 1,000 candidates. He led a team through a combat deployment, streamlined payment processes and managed $100 million in contracts. He was hand-selected as the only Financial Management Officer in the Marine Corps to instruct at The Basic School, earning the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
Educational background
Lawson holds a Master of Business Administration, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and economics from the University of Virginia. He is also a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter with a concentration in commercial insurance.
